BLA-DSS successfully held a virtual seminar “Strengthening key Aspects of Ethics and Integrity for Laboratory Accreditation”

          On March 12, 2024, the Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation, Department of Science Service (BLA-DSS) successfully held a virtual seminar (using Zoom Conference Application)  “Strengthening key Aspects of Ethics and Integrity for Laboratory Accreditation” to those of staff who undertake laboratory accreditation activities, together with the departmental executives, namely, the General Director, Rungrueng  Kitphati and the Head of Ethics Committee, Mr. Somchai  Tiamprasert came to open the seminar.

          The General Director, Rungrueng Kitphati, made an announcement: “BLA-DSS is one of bodies of the country serving our community and people, with the collective work of accreditation which is compliance with a principle of ethics, integrity and morality, impartiality, transparency, traceability and no concern of conflict of interest and no any commercial and financial pressures and other pressures that may threat to the quality of the service. Hence, this seminar was seen as important opportunity to raise an awareness of the topic, which is an alignment with DSS’s mission and further promotion of people health and wellbeing.

          Mr. Somchai  Tiamprasert  said: “ BLA-DSS seeks to support an operation of laboratory accreditation and the accreditation body also aims to enable relevant stakeholders to conduct laboratory accreditation activities in the manner that comply with policies and regulations set out based upon a fundamental notion of ethics, integrity, equality, transparency and a right of autonomous decision making, no concern of conflict of interest and other pressures that may deteriorate the quality of service delivered”. Seminar attendees gained a broad  understanding about the topic, specially seven key elements of integrity. This knowledge was expected to be integrated for the real-world situations of laboratory accreditation

          On this occasion, the BLA Director, Mrs. Chantarat Vorasapavit, a scientist (senior professional level) Mrs. Ratikorn Alongkornchotikul, and Legal Officer (senior profession level) Mrs. Nuntaporn Kositchaiwat were invited to deliver the course to 200 attendees throughout the seminar.
