Extensive collaborations between Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation, Department of Science Service (BLA-DSS), Thai Industrial Standard Institute (TISI), Department of Medical Science and National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, made the seminar on a cutting-edge topic “Accreditation Supporting the Future of Global Trade” possible. The seminar was held at the Richmond hotel Nonthaburi, on 9th June 2023 - known as the World Accreditation Day.

The Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation, Department of Science Service (BLA-DSS) is regarded as one of Thailand four accreditation bodies which are fully responsible for overseeing and managing a day-to-day operation. This encompasses three areas of an accreditation’ competence: laboratory testing, proficiency testing provider and the reference material. In fact, their works that contribute to high-levels achievements of each of potential accreditation tasks have explicitly addressed the ultimate needs highlighted by relevant stakeholders. Simultaneously, these have leveraged the body’ capacity to maintain impartiality, avoid likely risks to expose any conflict of interest that were of an concern, daily  operations with an application of an in-depth body of knowledges according to ISO/IEC 17025, and better handling with unforeseen negative spins of innovative developments with continuous improvement own work system. All in all, these collective work made by BLA-DSS have made “Test once accepted everywhere” which promote national competitive capacities in the global marketplace.

With an intention to add values to an quality of services and products, Thailand still aims to address the need of National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) in order to timely response to technology disruptions, changes in clients behaviors and attitudes, context and environment factors, as well as dynamics and business forms occurring in this century. This enables for log-run national development plan in a sense that make potential positive changes in industrial services and make an ideal feature of services for the future world possible, particularly making a national completion capacity and their products outstanding amongst other competitors in world market, with a fully consideration of ever-changing world economic chain and unmet needs of markets.

With these reasons, accreditation will be a crucial contributor for national economic development and that can be seen as a potential driver for such a high-level success, chasing the changes in technology and innovative landscapes. Accreditation indeed made an establishment of confidence of quality of new products to the customers and other stakeholders, as well as enhancing their services’ quality and an assurance of products’ impacts on individuals’ safety and health. Ultimately this work highlight the sustainability in business development and their operation in alignment with ISO/IEC 17025, promoting the export –import between traders. At global level, such valuable works made by BLA-DSS potentially minimize the explicit barriers to and limitations of international export-import of the certain product. These are of follows:

SDG 1. No poverty

SDG 2. Zero hunger

SDG 3. Good health and well-being

SDG 8. Decent work and economic growth
